Review from the 2020 Birthing Experience Survey
Amazing!! Very calm, laid back and old-school. He is very against unnecessary inductions, which I really appreciated. Everything went great, and there was no extra stress from him. Also it is great that he has a one doctor office. When I called, the same lovely front desk women would answer. They knew everyone's name and really worked with me to make appointments within my schedule.Review from the 2020 Birthing Experience Survey
Dr. Scheinfeld would be excellent for a truly low-risk pregnancy. I was at a higher risk for developing preeclampsia, and mentioned it to him, but he told me to calm down and try to relax. Long story short, I was officially diagnosed with preeclampsia as I was induced in the hospital after my water broke, but I’m pretty sure that I’d had it for at least 2 weeks prior to that. So, he was very low intervention and only intervened when necessary, so I would recommend him for a truly low-risk pregnancy. If I have another child, which is unlikely, I’ll go to a high-risk doctor.Anyone deliver at NYU & can recommend a great OB?
I loved my experience with Dr. Andrew Scheinfeld. He has his own practice 3 blocks from the hospital and lives in the same building. Since he is a single practitioner practice, you only see him and know that you will have him for your delivery. The drawback is that, on occasion, he has to miss appointments because he is delivering someone else. This only happened to me once throughout my pregnancy. He's been delivering at NYU for over thirty years and seems to have some seniority there in terms of getting what you and he need from them. He is old school and very calming and really works to help you have the kind of delivery you want, when possible. He also enjoys working with doulas, and recommended ours (Amythest Hertsens) who was great.Review submitted via the 2016 Birth Survey
We switched from Spring OBGYN at 36 weeks to Dr. Scheinfeld. He is an old-school/no frills OB/opts for less intervention. He is in solo practice, a rare thing these days, and he was at the hospital ready for us before we were, stayed with us during my 15-hour laboring at the hospital, always respected our choices and never rushed the experience. He was remarkable and provided us with the most gratifying birth experience! We couldn't have been happier. He loves working with doulas and was so great and encouraging with ours. Dr Scheinfeld was wonderful. He's a single practitioner so appointments may be rescheduled if he has to go to the hospital to deliver a baby, so you'll need to be understanding of that. But the benefit is that you know he'll be the one delivering your baby and that you'll be in good hands. I had a scheduled c-section due to placenta previa and the surgery couldn't have gone smoother or quicker. He made sure we had a gentle cesarean with the clear vinyl sheet to see our son as soon as he came out and Scheinfeld lifted him up to the vinyl and put his mouth to mine against it and I get the warmth of my son's skin and just started balling out of happiness and wonder. Can't say enough good things about him. Member notes about insurance: Takes most insurances. Did have a couple of issues with out of network lab bills during my pregnancy but all worked out in the end. Based on a February 2016 birthing experienceRe: Obstetrician who delivers at NYU
Dr. Andrew Scheinfeld delivers at NYU. He was my obstetrician and I adored him. You would have to the office about specific insurance.PSP Review
I'd also like to recommend Dr. Scheinfeld. I saw him based on the suggestions on this board, and because he was one of the few doctors to accept my United Healthcare Oxford insurance. I would highly recommend him for anyone seeking personalized attention, but a more reassuring attitude leading up to labor. Throughout the pregnancy, I was easily able to make appointments around my work day and his office staff was very kind and welcoming. When I did go into labor on my due date, he personally got out of bed at 2am to meet me at the hospital, and helped me stick to my plan of a vaginal delivery despite a difficult labor. He managed every aspect of the delivery, and I owe my seamless recovery to his expertise. I also highly recommend NYU, the nursing staff there was phenomenal throughout labor and after delivery.(no subject)
I love my ob/gyn Andrew Scheinfeld. I have rarely waited more than 10 minutes - you can set up first thing in the morning appt and never wait. Only hard thing is he is an ob so he sometimes cancels because he is delivering a baby. But he is lovely. His office is on 33rd Street bw 1st and 2nd Aves. September 2012(no subject)
I also want to give a recommendation for Dr Andre Scheinfeld. He was my OB, and I had a wonderful experience. He's patient, non-alarmist, made me feel comfortable asking questions, and mostly, made me feel good about my pregnancy. And even though I ended up with an emergency c-section (which he performed and healed wonderfully), I trusted that he respected my wishes for a natural birth and we did everything possible. I also like that he's a single practitioner - same doctor every appointment! It's like the feel of a small town doctor in the heart of NYC. (September 2011)(no subject)
I delivered at NYU and had a positive experience. I love my ob - i'm now pregnant with my 2nd and i went back to him immediately. He's a solo practitioner which I really appreciate because I know he's going to be with be with me through my pregnancy. His name is Andrew Scheinfeld and his offices are in Manhattan on 30th Street down the block from NYU. He is a great listener, thoughtful and caring. His # is 212-683-0600. (September 2011)
