Comment:  When my son was 8, he experienced issues that were upsetting to us and we were worried. We were also concerned about “sending him to therapy”. Instead, we went to family therapy deeply committed to the idea that his “problem” was ours to share and cope with together. It was great! I can’t tell you how valuable it is for a child to hear that what they are experiencing is not unique to them and to have someone help them give voice to their issues, help them “name” it and then learn to cope. It’s very hard to see our children suffer, but a good therapist should be able to help! We saw Margaret (Markie) Sallick. She is in Greenpoint and also was affiliated with the Ackerman Family institute. Her contact information is msallick.therapy@gmail.com (347) 276-1433Hope this helps you.

Comment:  We had a great experience with Markie Sallick, she is in Williamsburg. Our son was borderline defiant and she really helped him and importantly us as parents to understand behaviors we were engaging in that were not helpful. He continued to see her himself into adolescence. Her number is (347) 276-1433I think she is also affiliated with the Ackermann family institute and teaches other therapists.
