Subject:  Outdoor Dining - Where have you tried and what's been great (and safe)?
Comment:  -Not sure where you are, but we've been to 3 places on 8th Ave right by the park that had great side street setups in the shade that we enjoyed and felt were very safe: Cafe Flora, Zatar, and St. Eve's Cocktail Bar (it has a limited food menu - we got a pizza and appetizer - but the cocktails are the real draw, and they're amazing!). We've gone for brunch and early dinners (because we have a 13-month-old), so I can't speak to the later evening crowds.

Comment:  Cafe Flora not only has amazing home cooked food but they are amazing with kids. We’ve been bringing my son there since he was 3 days old and the couple that own it are very accommodating. All the food is home made, even the sandwiches are amazing! They also do a fabulous brunch on the weekends.

Comment:  A newish and lovely cafe-restaurant opened on 8th Ave & 11th Street and, as a neighbor, I'd love for them to succeed. It is a true Mom & Pop (actually a stylish Italian couple) and features the cuisine of Cilento in Southern Italy. The food is FABULOUS and it opens for dinner at 5, Tuesday - Friday. The owners love kids and the food and wine are excellent for the adults. They are also open for brunch on Saturday and Sunday. Most ingredients are imported from Italy and all prepared from scratch in-house. Most recipes are from their mothers/grandmothers! I have no affiliation other than being a very happy customer with a desire to keep this gem in Park Slope.
