Comment:  A great, diverse group of kids have fun in engaging and stimulating classrooms. The three Pre-K classes take up their own little wing of the school, and have separate entrances and a nice little play area. Music and Drama classes are highlights of the week. The main teachers are wonderful. A great little community school. The downsides are similar to those of other public schools, I imagine. As was the case in other public schools I toured, there are "smart screens" in all the classrooms, which I find are sometimes not used for purposes that are sufficiently well motivated by pedagogical goals. Sometimes the kids watch movies, although it's unclear to me how often that has happened. The school is also a little "traditional" for my taste in terms of homework (even Pre-K has it, although it's only suggested), Student of the Month-type rewards, and very strict security and hall-pass set ups that aren't properly gauged for the littlest kiddos and can be upsetting for them. Some of the co-teachers are a little stricter than I like. Although there's a great new playground next to the school, kids haven't been able to use it because there was gun activity there after it opened. The older grades do use the new basketball court and field. This place has a ton of potential and can be really great, so I'd highly recommend zoned families give it a shot. … About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Provides meals … What would you change? More rigorous pedagogy and less strict discipline. More child-lead pedagogy.

Comment:  Review: Low teacher-to-student ratio. Small classroom community led by caring, energetic teacher. Pre-k classes have doors that open right up to playground. My daughter loves choice/center time. Lots of parent events for the school, with an engaged PTA. Great music program. My daughter comes home talking about the music teacher, even if she only sees him once a week.About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Provides mealsWhat would you change about the program, if anything, and why? I wish we could drop off and pick up our child at the classroom, rather than outside.Review submitted via the PSP 2016 PreK Survey
