Comment:   I wanted to recommend Chef Laura Modigliani. I met her through PSP, and it was thanks to her that I was able to host an elegant and fun graduation dinner for my wife. Laura planned the menu, with my input, purchased everything in advance, made suggestions for budget-saving, came over to cook, and left everything impeccable upon departure. I know that she also has a few clients for whom she does daily meals per week. She also hosted a cooking club with fellow PSPs and several of us have continued to use the recipes she covered that day.

Comment:  THANK YOU, PSP, for coming through and helping me out!I also wanted to give a completely enthusiastic and heartfelt recommendation for private chef, Laura Modigliani.I ended up hiring Laura (also a local Park Slope mom and PSP member) who did *everything* for me in ensuring a beautiful night with my family over a delicious meal. This was especially complicated in my situation b/c I had 2 jetlagged people and the time of their arrival was in flux by up to 45 minutes. But, it was a totally successful evening and we were all relaxed, happy and comfortable eating really really good food.I'd never hired a chef before, and laura helped me: - plan the menu and offered suggestions (I was overwhelmed and she helped me quickly narrow and decide). - she did the grocery shopping, including buying fresh, local ingredients - and did all the cooking. I trusted her to have access to my apt/kitchen before I could arrive home, and that worked out really well, too. - when it was time to eat, she served each course and took away the dirty plates - AND she cleaned up my kitchen and left it even cleaner than when she started. Not to mention, the food was DELICIOUS. the menu was perfect for everyone in my family and our varied tastes/cravings. It had the comfort of a home-cooked meal but seasoned so well it tasted more refined.I was worried/doubtful how it would work to have a new person cooking in my kitchen while we ate a few feet away, in an open layout place, but somehow Laura was discreet and dinner was just about eating and drinking really well while enjoying each other's company. I'm so glad I hired a chef instead of going out -- it let us talk/eat for as long as we wanted w/o feeling any pressure; it was fine when my young daughter wanted to be excused early to play; and Laura was able to time the meal to my family's shifting arrival time. I thought the total price was really favorable as well.
