Comment:  I saw Olivia twice for PPD. She doesn't accept insurance (her rate I think is $250/session) but she agreed to see me on a sliding scale (still $100/session which was a big expense for me but I was/am really suffering and appreciated her flexibility ). I liked that she said she had a very practical approach of offering ways to feel better ASAP. The first session was mostly getting background but she did give me a kind of decent recommendation for a book to read (along with super obvious advice like "drink a lot of water"). The second session I sobbed the whole time explaining some really serious issues in my life. I begged her to help me try to figure out what I could do to be less sad and miserable and she told me to practice pretty basic self care things. I told her I knew those recommendations and did them (yoga, baths, walks, etc), but that I was still incredibly sad and feeling hopeless. She said "I can't wave a magic wand." It felt really dismissive. I responded that I didn't expect a "magic wand" but I needed some help in figuring out how to not feel so miserable and helpless. She offered nothing and then never followed up for another session. Her reaction made it seem like she had no idea how to help a suffering/depressed person and her lack of follow up really made me feel like she didn't care about me at all. I can't imagine that this is her approach with all her patients, but I would never recommend her, unless you want to pay hunreds of dollars for someone to tell you to drink water and practice self-care.
