Comment:  REVIEW: I ended up transferring to Dr. LaJoie very late in my pregnancy - 37 weeks. I'd expected to give birth naturally at the St Luke's Birthing Center but the baby was breech so that wasn't going to happen. My experience with Dr. LaJoie was therefore very limited, but I found incredibly flexible to take me on so very late and she took great care of me. She met with me ahead of the C-Section to make sure I knew what was going to happen, offered (without me asking) to do a gentle cesarean, and on the day of the surgery did a lot to talk me down from my anxiety and make sure I was comfortable. I really appreciated her warm, friendly, and super-clear bedside manner, which she maintained even in the operating room. The only thing I didn't love about the experience (besides the fact that it was necessary) was that there were a ton of medical students in the room - which I guess I should have expected since NYU is a teaching hospital - and there were times when she was teaching them about the procedure as she did it. I didn't love hearing her talk about my body as if I weren't in the room. If I'd thought of that as an issue in advance, I would have requested that students not be there or that she not narrate the procedure, so that's something I'd encourage others to consider and request for themselves with Dr. LaJoie (or probably any OB at a teaching hospital). INSURANCE Yes, took my insurance, made the claims process seamless. Based on a October 2015 birth
