Comment:  Recommendation for Checklist Home ServicesPutting out a shout-out for Checklist Home Services, who recently completed work on a complex Sheetrock and painting job in our home.Guillermo provided a detailed estimate and time-frame; was responsive throughout the process; kept the work area very neat and tidy; and stayed to the budget.I have no affiliation, other than being satisfied with their work and how it was conducted. Let me know if you want further input on them.

Comment:  Please add my name to the long list of glowing recommendations for Checklist Home Services. Two lovely blokes (Rey and Alvaro) came by and in just 90 minutes they winterized five enormous and very drafty windows, sorted out an annoying couch and removed the stair gate that we no longer need.We will be having them come by for a whole day in the spring and fix everything we can think of.

Comment:  We recently used Checklist Home Services - again - for some home improvement needs, and I just wanted folks to know about this fantastic, local (mom-founded!) service. Our jobs were not easy by any stretch, and I'm actually not even sure if they had ever previously done what we needed done. One of the reasons that I love this service is because Liz, the owner, has a fantastic sense of customer service. She is incredibly detail-oriented, takes immense pride in the work of her employees and wants to leave her clients satisfied. Her employees are professional, on-time, polite and clean up after themselves. We are very happy with our end products and plan to call on this service again for future needs.I have no affiliation with Liz or this company. I just love that we have this service available to us that does great work and want to see it thrive.(November 2014)

Comment:  We have had great luck with CheckList Home Services, run by a local Park Slope Parent, Liz Picarazzi. The handyman got here on time, got the job done right, and although slightly higher priced than Craigslist people, they’re insured and guarantee their work. The owner (Liz) is also really involved, who vets every handyman working there.Full disclosure, Liz is a client of mine, but I used her company services through our landlord with no mention of my name (Mystery Shopper style) to make sure I’d have a firsthand, unbiased experience. Very happy with the result !!

Comment:  Funny you should post this as there are tons of positive reviews for Checklist home services. I tried to use them - and had a TERRIBLE experience with a) trying to get an appt for an estimate (they said my emails went to spam - I followed up 2x I over a 2 wk time span) and b) when they did come for an estimate, Anton, the person who came, showed up early scrolling on his cell phone stating he "texted me back" to let me know he was coming early and then told me that I needed to "make up my mind so I wouldn't waste their time" when they came to work. I stated - isn't that what the estimate is for - to figure out what the best plan was as I had about 4 projects to take care of? I related my experience with customer served who tried to make amends by offering a discount, but I was already too turned off. Have been meaning to post my words of caution and finally found the right time/situation for it!(September 2014)

Comment:  I bought a building and had a number of renovations I needed to do on it - not a gut rehab, but the walls needed to be replastered and repainted, the carpet needed to be ripped up, the wood floor needed sanding and refinishing, and there were a bunch of other little things that needed to be done to make the place rentable. I got three bids, and Checklist Home Services was competitive, and I felt very comfortable with Liz Picarazzi, the owner. They were far and away the most professional and detail oriented of the bids that I got, and for that matter of any contractor or handyman I've ever worked with. The work they did met the high expectations that I had. Liz was great - she sent photos of the work as it was progressing, gave regular updates, and bent over backwards to make sure that we got the main work finished on schedule and that everything was done to a high standard. She also didn't nickel and dime us on change orders - lots of small things that came up they just did without charging us, and even a few larger things as well. The doors they got were three inches shorter than the frame, and they said it was their bad they didn't catch it, and ate the cost for fixing it by lowering the door frame, which was an extensive chunk of work and which came out looking great. Ultimately, there was a change order we contracter with them for, but I felt very comfortable doing that considering how far above and beyond they'd gone. The before and after pictures for our place are dramatic. They did a great job making a mess into a home. I think our project was a little larger than what Checklist normally does, and I'm pleased to say they handled it seamlessly.Guillermo was also fantastic, and so were all the subcontractors they worked with. I'm looking forward to working with Checklist in the future, on projects large and small.November 2012

Comment:  I also want to recommend Checklist Home Services. I found them through PSP site and gave them a try. They exceeded my expectations! Liz and Jamie were responsive and professional, Guillermo and Leonardo did a great job with my long list of fix-its. Towards the end of the day, Guillermo was walking into my backyard where he was working on a the 90th project of the day and he stopped to inspect a loose piece of wood in the doorjam that was in need of a nail or two. Without a word, he walked to the toolbox, got the nail and fixed the loose pc of wood that was not even part of his long list of tasks to do.They do the shopping at the hardward store for you and I thought it was a huge plus that the guys coming into the house all pass a background check. I felt very comfortable knowing Liz had done her homework.September 2012

Comment:  I just wanted to give a shout out to the new local handyman service I tried recently -- Checklist Home Services. I have had trouble in the past with getting handy-types to come by to do small jobs, but I have found my new source and wanted to share. The founder, Liz, vets and hires top quality handymen/women, and makes them available at reasonable hourly or daily rates. I needed a hole patched in a wall, a sink re-caulked, 2 door hinges repaired, and my dryer lint vent cleaned. Liz sent Guillermo to me (within a day or 2) --both Liz and Guillermo were responsive and conscientious, Guillermo did fantastic work, and the total bill was reasonable.

Comment:  After I saw the recommendation below for Checklist Home Services on PSP, I had them come and do a number of small jobs. The founder Liz was very responsive over phone and email. Liz came with Guillermo who did a fantastic job installing some shelves, fixing a baby gate, securing a bookshelf to the wall, installing a childproof door lock, and mounting a video monitor camera to the wall. They even went to Pintchik to buy hardware that was needed for the job.Afterwards Liz emailed an itemized bill for services rendered.I highly recommend them and would definitely use them again!

Comment:  I'm not affiliated with Checklist Home Services -- I'm just a satisfied customer, and want to recommend them to anyone on PSP who has a list of tasks around the house.Yesterday, Guillermo from Checklist came over and tackled my list of long-deferred home improvement projects: he was very efficient and easy to work with, and Checklist owner Liz Picarazzi (a Park Slope Parent) stopped by personally as well. This business is a great addition to the Slope, and I know I'll be calling them again! It's no exaggeration to say that every room in our apartment is in better shape than it was this time yesterday.

Comment:  I just wanted to post that I had a great experience getting my apartment ready to be sold, with the help of Liz Picarazzi's new company Checklist Home Services and her great handyman Guillermo. I was very happy with his work (basic stuff-- molding repair, closet shelf hanging, beadboard repair) and he was really efficient. I know Liz through a close friend of mine, and she was also great to work with and very responsive. The company website is: http://checklisthomeservices.com/ And nice to support a small, new company!

Comment:  My husband and I recently moved to Brooklyn from London. In the process of settling in, we made use of a wonderful new business set up by a local Mom and wanted to recommend her services.http://checklisthomeservices.com/ was set up recently to help us busy, crazed (newish but still in culture shock :)) parents with the small things that need doing around the house that may be too small for a contractor. They were great: punctual, friendly, full of tips and tricks. What we needed done was pretty straightforward -- we needed our TV mounted to the wall. It felt so good to have a professional do it and know it was done properly. I would definitely call them again for anything we need.(We have no affiliation to them, but thought others might benefit from their services)

Comment:  I hired Liz at Checklist Home Services when she told me that she had started her local business to connect local renters and home owners with vetted handymen/handywomen to help take care of the "honey-do" list. I needed my home office repainted, shelving from IKEA put on the newly painted walls, and new weather stripping on the garden-floor back door. Liz was like a party planner for my "new home office coming out." She orchestrated the whole deal: told me what to get, found a vetted handyman, set up the schedule, and took care to check on the details of the work. She even picked up a few hardware bits that were missing so that the project was done in a day. Liz's attention to detail and professional, friendly manner were a welcome change to past handyman experiences. I highly recommend you hire Liz if your list of tasks is weighing on your mind, and you just want the "honey-do" list off the fridge! My office looks professional, organized and beautiful now - I will hire Checklist Home Services again.
