    Park Slope

Private Picassos provides custom art lessons and activities throughout the Tri-State area and at our Art Studio in Park Slope, Brooklyn.

We believe in the intrinsic power of the arts and strive to help build self confidence in our students. In addition to refining our students’ fine motor skills, our program also improves their verbal and visual vocabularies and helps them discover new and exciting art techniques. All of our classes focus on exploration of materials and creative problem-solving rather than mimicry of adult-level art mechanics. We emphasize art instruction grounded in the intuitive elements of the fine arts, not merely on arts and crafts. We strive to provide our students with a better appreciation of the arts and their own thoughts and abilities.

Comment:  Our Toddler had such a wonderful morning completing a drop in art project today at Private Picassos on 5th avenue. For $15 they have a bunch of self-guided art projects such as: Palette Painting, Clay Sculptures, Faux Stained Glass, Drawing Exploration, Paper Mache and Collagraph Printmaking.Or a $35 day pass. They have books to read, toys to play with out the back and AC. So nice for your baby to have that freedom without having to worry about paint or crayons on the walls or furniture etc. Can't recommend it enough.

Comment:  The group classes at Private Picasso on 5th Avenue are wonderful, and they also offer private one-on-one or group classes. My daughter is only 5.5 but she loves art and I have been so impressed with the teachers she’s had there.

Comment:  We are huge fans of Private Picasso, because our older daughter loves it, but it cracks me up to see kids [my child]'s age (actually younger!) there not destroying everything in sight! The idea of giving [my child] free range of the paint area . . . no one would be safe! We stick to crayons with that guy at this point :)For those with almost two-year-olds who are more Isaac-like, the modeling clay activity is great, because there is less potential for destruction, and they also have lots of books, magnatiles, and you can let them color with markers on the paper-covered tables, so if you pay for one activity (or an activity for an older kid) there is plenty to keep them busy for quite a long time! They are also fine with people eating snack/lunch there, there is a changing table in the bathroom and a potty seat/step stool for potty trained kids.

Comment:  I did drop-in art at Private Picassos with both of my kids, both love it there. Mine just did painting but there are plenty of other options, too. It's $15/activity. I attached a photo for those interested. Fyi: I've gotten there at 10am before and had to wait 15 min outside for someone to show up to open up the place (they open at 10a).
