Comment:  I love the program, the French education is excellent and the children are attentively and lovingly cared for. My child loves the teachers. My only quibble is that the management does not always effectively communicate with parents. I have known them for years (sent two kids there) so I know their style, but I am concerned about the impression they make on families who might be used to a more corporate tone/process. About the facility: Has outdoor space, Provides meals What would you change? I wish the outdoor space was larger.

Subject:  Highly Recommended: Le Jardin de Louise, daycare and pre-school
Comment:  I wanted to give a big shout out to my daughter's day care, Le Jardin de Louise. She first started going there when she was about 18 months and had a great experience overall. She seems to have learned a lot in her time there and most of all had a lot of fun. My Daughter loved to go to "school"! They focused on experience overall and she always had stories to tell about her teachers. As a parent, I am grateful for the loving care and guidance my daughter received there. Assita, the director, was extremely supportive and communicative with any issues that might have come up. The teachers were also supportive and easy to talk to.It is a dual language program but one doesn't need to be French or French speaking to attend the school, in fact half of the children do not speak French at home.

Subject:  Review for Le jardin de Louise daycare
Comment:  My son started Le jardin de Louise in October 2014 while he was not yet 2yo. We wanted him to go to LJDL because we only speak to him in French and it was important for us that he gets as much french as possible. At LJDL my son learnt a lot, songs, letters, he became more secure physically and emotionally. The teacher would greet him very softly and made the drop off easier. They would also cook and that is a big thing to us : all kids would share the same meal, like we so in france. Seeing all the kids eat the same food, my son would try and eat meals he had never tried before or would have said no to at home. Eventually we had to leave LJDL when my other son was born, but it was not like leaving family. My son really liked going there. I would recommend this daycare greatly.

Comment:  Program: NA Length of Time: 3 days/week Child's Age: 2-3 years Review: Le Jardin de Louise is a wonderful French daycare in Ditmas Park. The daycare is small - 12 children/day - and provides full day (8am - 6pm) care. The children receive breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack at the preschool. Meals are healthy and freshly prepared on the premisses and all kids eat together. The days are structured with circle time, activities (yoga, art, singing, etc.), time outdoors, a nap, etc.. The school has a nice outdoor space, a playroom, quiet room and room for meals and activities. The environment and teachers are very warm and friendly. They are approachable and will give daily feedback on your child. They will work on any specific issues that a child may have, help with potty training and provide regular reports on your childs development. The daycare organises regular get-togethers with parents, creating a great network of families. Recommend (Hi/Rec/DoNot): Highly recommend Would you send your child again? Subject:  Bilingual day care and preschool recommendation
Comment:  It's a time of year where many are looking for childcare options for the fall, so we would like to wholeheartedly recommend "Le Jardin de Louise", a French bilingual day care (and now preschool starting this fall) in Ditmas park. Our daughter has been going since she was two and we are so happy the school had a spot for her when I went back to work. The teachers are truly wonderful: Warm, caring, intelligent, wise - they are wonderful adults for the kids to learn from and model after. When she is not at school, my daughter asks when she can go and whether she will see her teachers soon!Unlike many day cares I toured that felt very institutional, LJDL feels family-like:First, it's in an actual house, that is beautiful and impeccably clean with plenty of day light and many windows and several rooms. It also has a backyard with swings, a slide, many outside play toys and gears and even a space large enough for the kids to ride their scooters and run around. They also have an indoor mini slide, which is great for the winter months. In the summer they brought out a little kiddie pool for them to splash in and water activity tables. They cook the very healthy food in the kitchen, right there, and then eat all together at the table. (Which being French, I really appreciate: the kids understand where the food comes from; that it is cooked and warm; that meals are shared etc...) Readers of "Bringing up bebe" will recognize the philosophy....;) Every week the menus are posted online and in the entryway. They provide the home cooked breakfast, lunch and snacks too, which is pretty amazing given the reasonable tuition rates. There is also a great sense of community there and opportunities for the families to get to know each other and the teachers too, with a school's anniversary party, holiday parties etc...And then, there is of course the learning: it's bilingual (not full immersion) so my daughter is improving both her english and french in a social environment. I must say i was so impressed to see my daughter's little anglophone friends there completely comfortable with the French. Their learning activities are organized into weekly themes (letters, animals, numbers, colors, places, the face, your friends, etc..) and they bring a notebook home at the end of the week documenting it all (with many cute photos of them throughout the week)My daughter has learned so much there, including politeness in both languages! They have a wonderful way of encouraging kids to express themselves with words rather than whine, cry or scream which has been inspiring during the early toddler months! We have seen them get really great reactions from our daughter we didn't know she was yet capable of. They also helped us with potty training which was great. We were also impressed with the visiting teachers and extracurriculars they organize: they have yoga, movement class, visiting artists, even monthly tap dancing class!Their website is here: http://www.lejardindelouise.comEnglish version: http://www.lejardindelouise.com/page-d-accueil-home/english-home/Feel free to contact me if you have any questions! I would be happy to tell you more about our experience.

Comment:  Review date June 2013 (for 2012-2013 year)Program: daycare Length of time: 2 days/week Child's age: < 1 yearReview: Our child has recently started at le jardin de Louise. It is a small daycare with a maximum of 12 children with three teachers. It is a dual-language (french-english) daycare. They offer full time or part-time (2 or 3 days/week) enrolment. The environment is very friendly and personal. The owner discussed a transition period with me to facilitate our child's entry into daycare. Le jardin de Louise is more a daycare than a preschool although the days are structured (all kids eat breakfast, lunch and mid-afternoon snack together, there is circle time and outdoor play time) and they organize specific activities. We receive daily feedback on how our child did that day and weekly photos. As it is a small daycare, it is easy to meet other parents. The teachers are very energetic and involved.Do you recommend? (Hi/Rec/DoNot) Highly recommend
