    Description:

Saint Saviour Catholic Academy prepares students from Nursery to grade 8 for higher education. At SSCA we educate children from all walks of life in a nurturing and supportive Catholic environment. Beginning in our early childhood program our teachers create an exciting, developmentally appropriate curriculum encouraging the children to explore their world through hands-on activities. Our elementary grades offer a balanced curriculum of rigorous academics and a vibrant arts/music program paired with the spiritual teachings of Catholicism. Technology, including SMART Boards, computers, and tablets are integrated throughout our elementary grades along with a 1:1 Google Chromebook program in our Middle School.

We believe that education encompasses the academic, social, and spiritual needs of the learner and try our best to differentiate instruction so that we can support various learning styles and needs. In addition, each student’s success is often dependent upon how they feel socially within a classroom. To this end, we have implemented the Responsive Classroom Approach, which centers on positive language to maximize learning and consistency among classrooms. Each year our graduates receive thousands of dollars in scholarships and place into top public, private, and Catholic high schools.

He made good friends, he loved his teachers and respected them, and he was proud of his involvement in projects. Most of all, he felt valued just for being himself, the way he is now. As parents, we couldn't have asked for more. Every morning, his class started by playing in the gym, which was a great way for him to be with friends and to get his energy out. Then they would do fun class projects. They would go outside to the school's courtyard, to Prospect Park, or to take a walk in the neighborhood.

Comment:  Location: 701 8th Avenue BrooklynReview: Wonderful school with warm and welcome faculty and other friendly families. Most importantly the teachers create the perfect environment to begin a child's education. Learning is play based and very organic but the growth in the student certainly shows.About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Has early morning hoursWhat would you change about the program, if anything, and why? I have virtually nothing negative to say about my experience here so far. The only downside is that it does come at a cost but I feel the expense is worth it.Review submitted via the PSP 2016 PreK Survey

They were fun and shared well. Morning meetings, music, and gym time were favorites for my little guy.About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Has early morning hours, Provides meals, It is an allergy aware school. Snacks are provided, and you can opt into Red Rabbit service. What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? I would have preferred it if the school participated in NYC's Universal Pre-K Program.Review submitted via the PSP 2016 PreK Survey

Comment:   Program: Nursery/3s program Length of Time: 5 full days Child's Age: 2-3 years Review: My child has been attending the 3s program at Saint Saviour Catholic Academy since September and I am very happy with his progress there. His teachers have been very helpful and kind as he makes the transition to longer and more days of school, and he has enjoyed the program. In addition to regular preschool activities (arts & crafts, singing, free play, walks to the park, etc) led by his two terrific teachers, a music teacher comes to their classroom weekly, which is a highlight. He has made some good friends, and loves to see them outside of school as well, such as at a Halloween party last weekend. The school has many opportunities for parents to volunteer, such as setting up for special events or facilitating "pizza Fridays", and there are several fundraisers throughout the year families are expected to participate in. The principal is has an extensive Early Education background and has expanded the program in recent years. My nephew also attended and enjoyed the school for nursery and pre-K and so we had the benefit of knowing my son's head teacher in advance and having great confidence in her. Recommend (Hi/Rec/DoNot) Highly recommend Would you send your child again? Absolutely
