Comment:  Our daughter attends Little Snowflakes and we are very thankful we found them. We toured 9 daycares and went with Little Snowflakes because of the atmosphere and child engagement. They had the only staff members out of all 9 daycares that first addressed our daughter on the the tour before speaking with us and took the time to connect with her and got her to smile. We have been there for about 8 months and love it.

Comment:  The caregivers are all very sweet and patient and treat the kids like their own. For over 18 months there are lots of weekly activities like music, yoga, art, cooking, dance and play outdoors. About the facility: Has outdoor space, Provides meals What would you change? I would ask for more detailed daily or weekly updates on how the kids are doing and what they are eating.

Comment:  I've sent two kids here, my older for almost 3 years, and my younger is still there. This is the most loving, thoughtful, clean, safe daycare I could imagine. The teachers love the children like their own and my daughters always loved going there! We cried every time we had to say goodbye to a teacher (and so did the teachers) because they mean so much to us. About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Provides meals What would you change? Nothing!

Comment:  We really love this place! The infant daycare is particularly strong (our son started here at about six months old). The women are fun and caring. All speak both Turkish and English. The infant care is at 32 Jackson and the toddler/preschool care is next door at 34 Jackson in South Slope (both are located on the bottom floors of residential rowhouses). For toddlers and older infants, all food is provided (except we did continue to bring breastmilk and others brought their own formula when in the infant care side). They put the babies on a nap schedule, which really helped our family (one thing that I know some parents don't always want but it's not really an opt-out sort of thing). Our son really enjoys going each morning and the drop off is as early as 7:30am to 6:00pm (you're charged hourly and pay the month in advance). About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Has early morning hours, Provides meals What would you change? Our son is headed to a more conventional preschool program with a 2s program later next year, even though children can stay at Little Snowflakes through the 2s. Little Snowflakes offers yoga, dance, music and art (each one time per week with an outside teacher) for the toddler room. Some other local programs offer a "richer" (for lack of a better term) overall preschool environment at this price point for older toddlers (read: more resources, formal early-childhood-trained staff, more day-to-day activities involving playdoh, paint, the caterpillar-to-butterfly experience etc.). Still, Little Snowflakes has been amazing for our family, it has all of the essentials--most notably amazing staff and a convenient, safe location. I highly recommend it unconditionally for newborns through toddlers of about 20 months.

Comment:  The caregivers are extremely attentive, caring, and kind. They sing, read, and play with the childs and clearly pay very close attention to all the kids personalities. Once my child adjusted to being at daycare versus at home with me, she has thrived at Little Snowflakes. She is smiling and laughing when I drop her off and when I pick her up, as are nearly all of the kids whenever I'm there. They send photos of birthday parties and other special activities. About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has early morning hours, Provides meals What would you change? nothing.

Comment:  The staff at this daycare are very loving and thoughtful. My kids have loved it there! Almost all the teachers (and the owner) are Turkish and some speak better English than others. At times, some details get lost in translation, but nothing major to date. About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Has early morning hours, Provides meals What would you change? There's a "baby side" and a toddler side. In theory, kids move over at around 18 months, but there's often a lag until space is available that can be a little frustrating for the big kids stuck with babies who can't talk or walk. The owner was very responsive to our concerns and included our son on the "big kid side" in activities until a spot was officially available.

Comment:  These Turkish caregivers love the babies! They put our son on a nap schedule that has helped our family immensely. They also provide all meals (breakfast, lunch and snack). Our son loves music and loves hanging out on the rug with the other babies. About the facility: Has outdoor space, Provides meals What would you change? The physical space has a small almost nonexistent entryway area so drop off and pick up can be a drag since only one parent can enter at a time due to space constraints.

Comment:  My oldest has been going there since she was 5 months as well (she’s now in their toddler program next door to the infant facility). The teachers are so loving, the facility is very clean and welcoming with large outdoor spaces, and the most importantly, my daughter always leaves each day happy! One thing to note: they may be full already, as I found with many facilities when I looked the first time around, they all cap at 12 babies, so often there’s a waiting list.

Comment:  Age: 1-2 years2-3 years3-4 years Review: Little Snowflakes has two locations on Jackson place, one for infants and toddlers up to about 18 months and one for older children up to about 3.5. My child is in the older room after transitioning from the infant room. I adore the lead teacher of the toddler room, and my child does as well. She is engaging, encouraging, loving, and truly a gem. Each day they have a 'class' such as art, music (with an outside music teacher) or yoga. They also spend time outside in the back yard whenever the weather is nice. Each day you receive a report on how your child did, and any concerns. It's not a lot of data but whenever I have had questions they address them. For transitions, they are being helpful with potty training and helped my child transition from the infant room to the older room with no trouble.PSP note, this member previously reviewed this facility in 2014.

He's in the infant to about 18 month group and will move up to the older group next door once he is down to a single nap. He adjusted well and the staff have been very helpful and communicative about his progress. He seems to love it there and gets excited to go in the mornings. Comment:  Program: Young Babies Length of Time: It's a full-time program, my daughter goes 4 days a week Child's Age: Review: We started our daughter at Little Snowflakes when she was 3 months old. The day care sticks to a very regular nap schedule and was very focused on shifting her onto that schedule which we were a little hesitant about at first but has worked out fine. They also have set bottle and meal times so we had to shift her feeding times onto their schedule and we follow the same plan at home which has worked well. They allowed for some transition days but didn't want me to dictate a ton of particular instructions..they have a system that works so if you're willing to be on board with their system it will be a good fit. The teachers are very loving and make sure to hold the little babies a lot, give them tons of kisses, etc. My daughter would always smile or get excited when we dropped her off and clearly has a strong bond with the teachers. They sing to the babies a lot and are silly with them..it never seems out of control and they keep the day care very clean. Now that my daughter is 11 months I wish that they had more activities, it seems like its mostly unstructured play time (sometimes with her playing with toys on her own), nap time or meal time. They do provide food which is very convenient although not all of it is organic as it was originally described. I never worry about safety or that they aren't watching her and talking to her and being kind to her though. Recommend (Hi/Rec/DoNot) Recommend Would you send your child again? Maybe

The teachers clearly love babies and help them to meet milestones. They give a little report card at the end of the day with the basics but honestly I don't get and don't ask for a lot of information. There's a line for pick-up and all I want to know is a good day or not so good (cranky). Other than that, I"m just ready to get home. The ladies there are very cheerful and good with the kids, and also magically keep to a steady nap schedule. A colleague from work had a kid there now and is happy with them.

The staff are very loving and engaging with the children. The facility is clean and inviting. And they have a lovely little backyard to play in. They feed the children breakfast, lunch, and a snack, and the children all take a nap at 12:00. Each day they have a special activity - yoga, dance, music, art, play-doh. They also go outside twice a day and have indoor play time. I'm impressed that my daughter learned to sing her ABC's before she turned 2 and could count past 10. She also learned the words to many songs. They serve 12 children and have 2-3 adults on staff each day. I highly recommend Little Snowflakes! Do you recommend? (Hi/Rec/DoNot) Highly recommend

My daughter is learning amazing amounts of information every day. She loves going there and has so many friends. Comment:  Name of Program: Full days KID AGE:2-3 years We've been very happy with the childcare at Little Snowflakes. The teachers are warm and loving, and have helped my son through many transitions (potty training was just the latest!). The hours are flexible, and they are open year-round, making it easier for working parents. My son is in the 2-4s program, and they also have infant care next-door (which is convenient if you have more than 1 child in daycare/preschool). In addition to regular activities like reading, puzzles, blocks, etc., they have weekly yoga, dance, music and art classes, as well as a lot of time outside. It's play-based, and they seem to have a regular routine (even though I wouldn't call it a very structured program). Comment:  My son (now 2.5) has attended Little Snowflakes (group family) daycare since he was 6 months old. They have 2 centers next door to each other, with a shared backyard space. One center has babies aged 3 months up to about 2 years, and last year they expanded to add a 2-4s program next door. I have been really happy with them. There is a great continuity of staff (only one teacher has left in the 2 years we've been there), and they are warm, caring, and wonderful with the children. The centers are very clean and are recently renovated (both are ground floor apartments). (Another big plus for me is that they provide all the food once the kids are done with baby food, which means one less thing to need to worry about.)When my son was in the infant center, they did an amazing job of helping get his naps onto a schedule that worked for him, but were very flexible with his needs for sleeping and eating. I also felt their communication with me throughout his infancy was very clear, and they obviously love the kids. I was hesitant leaving my son in full-time care, but after a short time I had absolute confidence in the women who work there, and my son really thrived. I can't say enough good things about their infant care. When my son moved to the "big kid" center next door, I was hesitant about how he'd adjust to a more rigid schedule, but the teachers were patient and worked with him and me to get him onto a new nap and eating schedule. Now we're working on potty training, and they've been just as good about helping him with that transition (they don't require kids to be potty trained to start, but are very helpful with it). Throughout all these transitions and more, I've really valued their efforts to work with me on any issues that I've raised, along with their patience for my first-time parent neuroticism! My son is learning so many new things every day (I'm constantly amazed at the new words and concepts that he comes out with when we're home, and know that he has to have gotten them from school). I also like that they spend time outside almost every day (unless it's raining a lot). I guess the best recommendation comes from the fact that when I get there, my son almost never wants to leave! It's not a "fancy" preschool, so if that's what you're looking for it may not be a good fit for your family. But, if you want a small child (and play) centered setting, where there's a very close connection between the teachers and kids, Little Snowflakes is a very special place. They have flexible hours, and are open from 8-6, Monday - Friday. One thing I've really appreciated as a working parent is that with some advance notice, they can often accommodate somewhat earlier or later drop offs/pick ups if necessary.
