Comment:  Devachan is the only place for a curly girl. Highly highly recommend. Worth the time and $$

Comment:  If you can and want to learn how to care for curls correctly, I highly recommend going to Devachan in Soho. They will teach you all you need to know about curly hair while your little girl gets pampered. The care for curly hair is very different than what you might be accustomed to. Devachan changed my life!

Comment:  I second Devachan! I've been going there for years and it really is worth the trip to soho. Don't be deterred by the prices. I see someone there now that is only $80-so they definitely have a wide range of prices. I've seen at least five different people over the years and they have all been equally amazing. Like another poster said, you can go a long time between cuts.

Comment:  I've been going to Devachan in SoHo for years. Their specialty is curly hair. They are not cheap (I see a "senior stylist" for $165... but I've been seeing her since she was a $55 trainee!), but I always leave happy and the cuts last me for up to six months - they just look good at every stage of growth (though I usually have my hair below my shoulders, which probably helps).

Comment:  I spent many years and much money going to both Ouidad and Devachan, but I've never actually been happy with the cut I get there! I don't think there is an emphasis on styling and they just don't seem to hear you when you say you want to wear your hair a shorter length. Also, though I may well be in the minority, I feel that at both salons there is a lot of lip service paid to each person's curls being different, but the fact is, when you leave there, you have the big, bouncy (and crunchy from product) curls that they are known for, and they don't care how much product it takes to achieve it. That's fine if you're going there for a style for a special occasion, but I haven't found their styling techniques to work well with my "wash and wear" mom lifestyle. I still use Devachan's conditioner, though. I have a friend who is my hair product guru and I get recommendations of other styling products from her. I haven't had a cut in over a year, much as I'd like to!

Comment:  'm also a Devachan devotee. I think I've been getting my hair cut there by Ana for more than 7 years now. For color, I use Larry.Agree with the last poster that the haircuts really last - the shape changes, but it changes in a good way. I can wait as long as 6 months in between cuts! No one has bothered to really "push" their "technique" on me... I do what works for my hair.

Comment:  I used to go to Ouidad (for about four years) but switched to Devachan this year. I go to Helik (Soho) for my cut and Kristin for my color. I think both places are good but Devachan is better. Cut just looks better and lasts longer. Color is much much better. I still use some of the Ouidad products, though. Helik did teach me how to style my thick, curly hair (tends to frizz easily too) and it has been great.

Comment:  I love Devachan! I tried Ouidad and as well and think that Devachan is just totally amazing. They do recommend a regimen but its really easy to follow and makes styling curly hair easy. Good luck!

Comment:  I've been to Ouidad and Devachan with my crazy, curly hair. I actually prefer Ouidad (and their products) over Devachan. D has this huge regime that they want you to do, including untangling your hair with your fingers in the shower which takes forever. I did get a really good cut at Devachan in Soho, but I have actually found a trained Devachan stylist over here in the slope! His name is Gabriel and he's at Michael Hair. 718-965-3774. He just gave me a great cut that was in no way inferior to Devachan HQ and it was half the price.

Comment:  I really like Devachan. I am not really into the salon/spa/product thing. I usually only go once a year. The products work for me. I don't remember them "teaching" me what to do with my hair. So you might want to ask for that guidance. I spritz with water and use a bit of their Angel in the morning and I am mostly good to go.

Comment:  I have been a Devachan client for many many years (I followed my stylist there in 2005). I see Keith to cut my hair - Since I have stick straight hair I can not attest to any insight they provide regarding curly hair but the salon is great for service.
