Comment:  My four year old loves the band City Stomp. Check them out on you tube. They used to have a regular gig at Dizzys on 5th before they closed, and kids just danced and danced. They might know of a venue too.Good luck and don’t stress.

Comment:   Kevin's class is more class-like. He teaches the kids through world music and rhythm - and they don't even realize they're learning! Kevin has classes in both N Slope and S Slope. You can find more info on his website at http://www.citystompmusic.com/. We've been taking this one since my eldest was 1.5 or so.

Subject:  Shout out for City Stomp
Comment:  We have taken many different music classes in the neighborhood over the years - and the city stomp class (and Debbie brukman's class) are the only ones that we love enough to sign up for semester after semester. Kevin (who runs city stomp) is awesome. The classes are age appropriate for babies through pre-schoolers and he has a good mix of songs you already know, international songs, and city stomp originals. If you're looking for a great music class, this is it.

Subject:  Really big shout out for City Stomp pre school music classes
Comment:  I want to recommend the wonderful City Stomp if you are looking for a music class for your pre-schooler. My son and I started attending the family class last October when he was 3, not long after we moved to Brooklyn, and it is not an exaggeration to say that the class, the CDs and the concerts we also went to were a big help for him and his older brother and sister settling in to life in New York; the music is great and lots of the songs have a New York theme. Kevin and the other teachers are brilliant; warm, lively and fun. My son and I really loved the weekly classes, and played the CDs on a constant loop at home too. There are classes during the day if you are at home with your little one (or for a caregiver to take them too) and there is now a class especially for working parents too. City Stomp has a great pricing policy with sibling discounts (and, incredibly, a third child is free!)I have no affiliation at all - I just cannot speak highly enough of City Stomp and I am really going to miss the weekly family class now that my son is starting pre-K! He and his brother will still be going to the Drum Circle class though ...

Comment:  There's a wonderful mixed age (baby to 3ish) music class offered by City Stomp. The music rocks, as you may have noticed at Dizzys. But ,the Sunday am class at Spoke the Hub on Union Street needs more people or it will be cancelled :(. My daughter went for several years and my son is enrolled in the class that might be cancelled. Please check it out and sign up ASAP!

Subject:  Shout Out for City Stomp Drum Circle classes (3-7 years old)
Comment:  If anyone has a child in the post-Music Together but pre-instrument lesson age gap and is looking for a weekly music class, I highly recommend the Drum Circle classes by City Stomp. My daughter is in her second term there, and she loves it and is learning a lot. It's a drop-off class for two age groups: either 3-5 years or 6-7 years. The kids learn about drums and different rhythms, do call-and-response, one plays while another dances, etc. I really feel the foundation of rhythm knowledge will serve my daughter well no matter where she goes next in her musical training. And it's loads of fun; the kids all love Mr. Ethan!I have no connection with the organization other than as a satisfied customer.

Comment:   Our daughter has LOVED the City Stomp music classes she has attended from age 9 months through 2 year... and still enjoying it! The teachers make the music experiences so engaging, through singing, instrument playing, and dancing. Each session they provide a new CD, with a focus on a different area of world music, plus their famous much loved songs that reference NYC. The CD's were the number one requested music in our house consistently, and are enjoyable for the adults as well. The City Stomp Band also regularly play concerts in the neighborhood, which we loved bringing our daughter to (a really nice connection between loving the music in the intimate class, and seeing the band performing for live audiences of multiage kids). Overall, I cant say enough great things about this program- and I attribute a great deal of our daughters love of and connection to music to her experiences here. Also, this program is the most reasonably priced of all the others in the neighborhood... another plus!

Comment:  Kevin's music classes and City Stomp shows got both my kids so interested in music. Kevin is a great musician and has put together an amazing and diverse repertoire of music. I'm so grateful that my children's school (Beansprouts) hired such a talented, experienced, and passionate music teacher. My son loved Kevin's guitar playing and sang and imitated him every day at home. Now my son is almost 5 and has started guitar lessons and of course he wants to play all the City Stomp songs. For the adults, the CDs are welcome since they're not just kids songs. I'm not sure if Kevin even knows how much he has influenced my kids. We really appreciate it and are having a great time with the next phase where our kids are playing these songs on piano and guitar.

Comment:  city stomp music! i think they come back in july to park slope at dizzy's on 5th diner. they are really great. my daughter went when they were at spoke the hub and she LOVES their music (meaning on a long car ride, the only thing that keeps her happy in her seat is clapping and cheering to their CD) and she loved the class too - very interactive with little instruments to play along to the music and kevin is simply amazing with the babies/kids. they also do concerts in the neighborhood too. we haven't been but our neighbors love it.

Comment:  I've been taking classes with Kevin through City Stomp. It's great (and reasonably priced). He does a mix of original music, children's music, and a variety of multicultural music too. We've been going to Spoke the Hub, but there are a few other locations, too. I highly recommend it!!July 2012
