Subject:  Paying Nanny Question: Payroll Timing
Comment:  We use HomeWork Solutions. Similar setup: example Week runs from Friday 3/26 - Thursday 4/1. The hours need to be reported to HWS on Friday 4/2. Our nanny is then paid the Friday afterwards (4/9).One solution may be that you pay your nanny for this week in cash, and at the end of her employment she gives this back or you balance it out with her wages then.We like HWS, as they do all the taxes and our nanny can check their paystubs on their portal.

Comment:  FWIW, I used Homework Solutions with my first and did NOT have a good experience. They made mistakes and were hard to get a quick response from, though apparently others on PSP have had a good experience with them.

Comment:  Homework Solutions. They seem pricey, but they have done a good job so far.

Comment:  Found through PSP. Not sure that I would recommend them though. They are adequate but I've had a few minor issues (that were all resolved, but were just annoying)

Subject:   Back Re: Paying nannies on the books
Comment:  The one note I’d like to share on this subject as was a big learning for me (and not something I had read anywhere) was that BEFORE you agree / negotiate the rate with your nanny to reach out to either your accountant or one of these agencies to see what the rate will be both net and gross. There seem to be a lot of variables and versions of how you can pay your nanny “on the books” (ie, withhold SS/medicare + taxes or you pay SS/MC and she pays taxes...) so it will change your end cost and how much she takes home.I reached out to 4nannytaxes and they were very helpful in my understanding of this.
