Comment:  I recently bought a gift certificate online from Community Bookstore and they were able to email it directly to recipient to either use in store or online. Super easy!

Comment:  I can't remember the exact specifics but all of my books from Community came either within the estimated time or sooner, and as someone else mentioned, they were fast about getting back at answering my questions about tracking, etc. In one case one of the boxes was slightly open/dented, but the book inside was fine. Also one of our teachers asked everyone in the class to get a few books for the end of the year (if possible), and she worked out a thing with CB where if we ordered and put her name in comments, they waived shipping, so probably worth talking to them for special and bulk orders, too.

Comment:  Shipping is not only dependent on stock but on the shipper. I ordered through Community Bookstore, and the Post Office held the package in NJ for three weeks for some unknown reason! (However-the store was very responsive to my inquiries to the best of their ability, and it had nothing to do with them).

Comment:  Another recommendation for Community Bookstore, which sent a duplicate of a paperback YA book that came misshapen at no charge. (I complained only bc my son is very particular about the state of his books!)

Comment:  I have had good experiences with Community Books, longer than usual but timely. And these days, Amazon is no better for lots and lots of things, so you can shop small and also not feel like it’s a big sacrifice.

Comment:  Community bookstore offered a delivery estimate of ten business days before I purchased online, and the books came early (took less than a week, I think). If you have specific concerns, you should call them.

Comment:  Re: the question of how quickly. It really depends on their inventory and if they have a book in stock or if they’ll need to order directly from either the publisher or a wholesaler. Publisher and wholesaler warehouses are also social distancing, so shipping times are just not quicker at the moment. But you can also just ask a local store about your specific needs and they’d definitely give you an idea of timeline! I found Community Bookstore to be faster than Books Are Magic.

Comment:  You can buy from Community Bookstore online and they'll ship to you! https://www.communitybookstore.net/ I ordered a bunch of books from them on their website. The books arrived in a few different shipments. The bookstore communicated shipping times including backorders. Very easy and happy to support our local amazing bookstore.

Comment:  We've ordered several times from Community Bookstore and it's been great (books come from their warehouse). They will also email gift certificates directly to recipients. And I heard they are now doing personalized recommendations- you email them books you've enjoyed, or preferred genres, and they will send suggestions.

Comment:  I second the recommendation/shout-out for our beloved Community Bookstore. I ordered some books that they didn’t currently have in stock, and they are having them mailed directly to our home with no extra charge for shipping. Such a lifesaver for our book-crazy 2- and 5-year-olds!

Subject:  Community Bookstore on 7th is taking orders for pickup or delivery
Comment:  Faced with the prospect of reading the same books a million times to my toddler while she's home for now, I checked the Community Bookstore website and found that they are taking orders over the phone or online and holding them for pickup or delivering them! I didn't know which books to choose (not being able to browse in person), so I emailed them to ask for advice and Philipp, who is in charge of the kids section there, curated a selection for me. Then I paid over the phone and picked them up a few minutes later. I'm really happy we have this resource in the neighborhood for helping us get through who knows how long with homebound kids! (And adults too!)

Comment:  Community Bookstore on seventh ave has one in the kids area. They're fantastic, but consider purchasing something if you're going to be going in just for some piano time. Disclaimer... it may not be tuned;I wouldn't know from hearing my own toddler play it!

Comment:  I have done books from the Community Bookstore- for age 5 you can do the early reader books (like Frog & Toad, Bread & Jam for Frances etc) they have on the racks. They will gift wrap (for free!) and at least when I did it, even gave me a discount on a bulk order. One year I had them order a single book for everyone and it came really quickly, as fast or faster as Amazon would have, then they wrapped so all I had to do was pick up.

Comment:  the Communtiy Bookstore on 7th avenue in Park Slope is the best. Today I looked up a bunch of books on Amazon, wrote down titles and authors then called the Community Bookstore to see if they were in stock and to order what wasn't on the shelf. I do this frequently and each time I get a call or email within a few days to retrieve the books. It's often as fast as ordering from Amazon. My name is on file with the frequent buyers club and I get 10$ off a purchase after spending 100$. I just can't help but give this shout-out to the Community Bookstore.(Reviewed Jan 2015)
