    Subject:  Sick day babysitter
Comment:  They can't do it with no notice, but the Beyond Care Childcare coop in Sunset Park does last-minute care. IF you aren't in their system already, they need at least 24 hours notice, though. (July 2019)

Comment:  Yes all positive - we have used them a number of times for their rapid care when our regular nanny was sick. All the nannies were experienced and lovely. They go through 8 weeks training with the coop I believe.I find email works best with them.

Comment:  I’ve used Beyond Care many times during the day for sitters when our usually sitter can’t make it. Everyone is very lovely and super experienced. They are full time nannies who have been doing this for years. If you email them they respond within the day. Its usually a different nanny, who is free that day you need.

Comment:  We have used Beyond Care Nanny Coop many times and emailing them is best. A qualified nanny (they all have 8 weeks training and usually many years experience) has always taken care of my son in last minute requests. I’ve always given about a day’s notice - we reach out the day before for this type of last minute requests. Calling may work with shorter notice. I know Hopewell Care is a new nanny coop in the area but we have not tried them yet.

Comment:  Hi guys, we're in a similar boat too. Agreement with all the challenges and tips posted so far. We've had a good experience with beyondcarecoop.com where you can hire someone for one day all the way up to full time. We've been working the same person we first got from them, so I can't speak to a variety of their members, but they do have common requirements, etc. for all their members. You can find more details on their site.

Comment:   As far as last minute: in my experience they need 48 hrs notice because they have to confirm a member who's available, but that's been for requests for multiple days. If you ask them the day before, especially with an uncomplicated request, you might be able to confirm someone for the next day.

Comment:  I've had great experiences with Beyond Care - I have worked with three different women from Beyond Care and all were excellent and professional. Two continue to be regular sitters for us, and they are wonderful with both of my kids.

Comment:  I also just had a great experience with Beyond Care. Last week I had a need for a sitter for 3 days in a row--with very short notice--so I called them (based on other PSP recommendations.) The sitter they sent was so terrific with our son that we ended up booking her for a regular weekly time slot.Beyond Care's office manager is also lovely to talk with and very responsive. I definitely recommend them!(November 2011)

Comment:  I just want to say that I have used Beyond Care a number of times and absolutely love the sitter we have used. She is amazing and so sweet. I have asked her to speak Spanish to my daughter in hopes that she will learn some (bonus!). I find that our sitter is more reliable and knowledgeable than our other occasional sitter had been.I highly recommend Beyond Care!(November 2011)

Comment:  After a bunch of PSP recommendations I just tried Beyond Care Coop; a women's childcare cooperative based in Sunset Park. I couldn't have been happier with the service.Their Rapid-care service had a kind and lovely (and CPR certified!) sitter at my door within two-hours of my calling and I liked her so much that I booked her for Wednesday. This fantastic service costs $16 per hour--just a $1 more than the going rate for a full- or part-time nanny. Will definitely use them again. (November 2011)

Comment:  We contacted Beyond Care to find a babysitter for our six month old and they were professional and courteous and sent over a really excellent caregiver. All of the members of the co-op take courses in caregiving, nutrition, CPR, etc. and come with references and resumes. Additionally, there is a standard caregiver contract that explicitly lays out the parents' wishes regarding the nature of the care (and any other guidelines) they wish the co-op member to follow. Can't say enough great things about them - they're truly pros.(October 2011)

Comment:  We utilized Beyond Care in finding our current sitter. This is an absolutely wonderful endeavor done by the Center for Family Life, which is doing great things down in Sunset Park, and has been doing so for many years. It was important for us to use this program, both because we knew it was a place to find a qualified, trustworthy Spanish-bilingual sitter, and because of my own work with a similar non-profit social service agency. They do a very good job in preparing the women who participate in the cooperative as far as getting them certified, keeping them current and informed as to best practices, and work with them on developing a professional presence at all times. When you consider what the alternative is for some of the women participating in this coop is, this is putting your money where your mouth is for job creation. The coop will mostly work as an intermediary. You will fill out an application and provide them with your needs. They will provide you with information for members who may be available for your needs. You will then need to interview them. The members will provide resumes and references for you. We are happy with our sitter. I wanted someone who would show a strong amount of care for our child, and could also be an extra Spanish-speaking presence in his life, and that's exactly what we have. It may not be fancy, but it's what we wanted.(October 2011)
