Subject: Anyone have experience using Invisalign or Smile Direct for their kid(s)?
Comment: I had two daughters in orthodonture at the same time; one needed conventional braces, and one was able to use Invisalign. The orthodontist was Dr. Sophia Scantlebury, on Plaza Street, who I recommend and who told us that only cases needing mild-moderate correction could use Invisalign. My younger daughter was able to use those in her early teens. Slightly more expensive than conventional braces but immeasurably easier and more comfortable for the patient.

Comment: We love our orthodontist, Sophia Scantlebury on Plaza Street. My son takes himself to his appointments. He will be having them removed May of 2019. We consulted with 3 before deciding on her services. She is not super warm or fuzzy, but very direct and decisive. We also knew 3 of my son's friends who went to her. Good luck.https://www.scantlebury-orthodontics.com/

Comment: We also just started with Dr. Scantlebury, on a strong referral from my son's oldest friend (who finished with her recently) and reading some other positive feedback online, my son is getting a palate expander in a few weeks.
So far so good

Comment: Our daughter is seeing Dr. Scantlebury at 10 Plaza St E. Though we are new at the practice, our daughter has some complicated issues involving her bite, and we’ve been pleased at how Dr. Scantlebury has been explaining everything and how thoroughly she is approaching the treatment plan. Our daughter will need to have oral surgery prior to braces, and we’ve been referred to a terrific surgeon in Manhattan, Dr. Elisheva Rosenfeld- she works in tandem with Dr. Scantlebury and they seem to communicate well to coordinate care.

Comment: Both of my girls see Dr. Sophia Scantlebury. We've been with the practice for three years so far and find the doctor and office staff wonderful. They handle all insurance billing so I think there may have been some misunderstanding with the other poster.I recommend that you consult with at least two orthodontists to get an idea of the scope of work they estimate. If possible, find a good practice close to home or school. You are likely there once a month for years. When your kids get old enough, they can walk themselves to the office to have their rubber bands changed on those monthly visits.Good luck!

Comment: One of my daughters has invisilign through the orthodontist Dr. Sophia Scantlebury, at 10 Plaza Street (where it meets Flatbush Ave, right next to Grand Army Plaza ⅔ station and a B41 stop). Two of my daughters have been in treatment with her for several years (and are about to end) so I have a lot of experience with her and her staff, and overall I recommend the practice.

Comment: My daughter and I both really like Dr. Scantlebury in Grand Army Plaza. She is patient and friendly-- answering my questions a few times over, since I let a lot of time go between our initial consult and the beginning of treatment. When I mentioned I might get a second opinion, she encouraged me, and provided me with some initial records to bring to the second Dr. I chose Dr. Scantlebury in the end, for her pleasant demeanor and geographic convenience. She also seems to be a great orthodontist, though we've been only going for 6 months, so of course I haven't seen the final results.

Comment: We use Sophia Scantlebury on Plaza Street. She’s been wonderful so far. I really appreciate that I get a call from her office a day or two after the kids have paid a visit to see how they’re doing.

Comment: Seconding the recommendation for Dr. Sophia Scantlebury on Plaza Street right at Flatbush Avenue. Her office is right next to the 2/3 Grand Army Plaza stop, near the B/Q, and a few different buses. She is super-nice, her staff is great, there is generally little to no wait when you have an appointment, and though orthodontics are pricey in general, I think her prices are in line with others', and now that I've seen how often she sees my daughters (all visits are included in the price of each treatment) I don't really understand how she makes a living!
