Comment:  Renew PT is excellent at pelvic floor. I started going there for an ab separation and am now working on my pelvic floor strength as well. They take a whole body approach and I have found them to be very knowledgeable and practical. They do take insurance (I also have BC) and they will actually look into your insurance and let you know what your payments will be like before you even come in for the first appointment. I highly recommend them!

Comment:  I highly recommend seeing the PTs at Renew PT. They specialize in women's health physical therapy, particulary pre/post natal issues. I didn't see them for your purpose, but heard tell of their success treating prolapse through therapy. The office staff is simply the best, and the therapists were equally wonderful (you get rotated around every few visits and they do case reviews like a group practice). They were extremely helpful working with my insurance to get the deductible covered upfront at the first visit so that I got the maximum insurance benefit from the therapists. You could also bring your babe with you to the appointments if care is an issue.

Comment:  Renew physical therapy. They specialize in women's post-birth recovery. It's PT waaaaaaay beyond "do some kegels." They are kind of hippies, so I am not sure they would recommend surgery. But maybe they would! I believe that if your problem can be fixed with physical therapy, they can do it. This is their main focus, and they take it very seriously.

Comment:  You may want to consider physical therapy. There's a great practice in the city, Renew PT, that caters to women's health, particularly post-natal stuff like this. I saw them for a diastasis and c-section scar complications, and they truly healed my battered body. They do Maya abdominal massage as well. It may be worth it just to talk to them and see what your options are.(March 2013)

Comment:  . Okay, they're not local anymore, but I whole-heartedly recommend Renew Physical Therapy. (office near herald square/Park Ave south). I bet they could teach you exercises in one or two sessions, and it might be worth it. They also do abdominal massage, and specialize in post-partum issues-- really a perfect match for your query. I had hip/pelvis problems and they helped me SO much. SOOOOO much. (March 2013)

Subject:  Physical Therapy or Tuppler technique for Diastasis - SUMMARY
Comment:  I had a separation after giving birth to my son, and chose physical therapy. I had a lot of trouble with my c-section scar which impacted the separation's ability to close. I went to Renew PT in the city for about 4 months, and I could not be happier with the care I received there. They do all sorts of PT but are known for and specialize in women's issues, particularly pre and post partum. They are truly miracle workers. I saw them at about a year post-partum and wish I had done it sooner!I did a TON of research before seeing them. I found that they incorporated much of the Tuppler Technique into the exercises they prescribed for me - the primary move is a belly pump, which Tuppler calls Elevators. They also worked with me to find and activate my abdominal muscles as well as my pelvic floor. If you have a large separation, I would suggest PT over a pilates instructor or other semi-professional approach. I feel like they teach you how to heal your body the right way, which is best for long-term maintenance. I still do the moves they taught me and I'm back to working out on my own. I can proudly report that my diastasis is closed (except for a hole around my belly button that may always remain) and that I feel stronger and more confident about my stomach's appearance. Please consider Renew PT, and ask me anything! I feel like so few women talk about this as a post-partum issue, and it should be more open so that more women can get the fix they need.
