Comment:  Highly recommend Hope Veterinary Clinic on Atlantic in Boerum Hill. Holistic-oriented, very good care, lovely space, Started by a Vet and Social Worker, just great all around. When we had our cats we brought them there and they are great.

Subject:  Recommendation for thoughtful veterinary care
Comment:  We love Dr. Mason at Hope Animal Clinic on Atlantic. Our friend had an elderly dog with a terminal illness. She was treated with sensitivity and was very pleased with the treatment.

Comment:  We recently adopted a lovely cat from the adoption center based at Hope, and we enrolled our other cat with them, too. I have to say we have since changed vets. The vet we saw, whilst a lovely person, seemed inexperienced and missed a simple diagnosis (our kitty can't eat fish!). I called to get test results and my calls were not returned.I also found them extremely expensive and bill-happy. An example: our cat was checked for ringworm, this involves waving an ultraviolet wand over the cat. This cost $15. That's like paying a doctor to use a stethoscope! (Our new vet, park Slope Veterinary Care on 5th Ave does not charge extra fro this rudimentary check, and spotted the food intolerance immediately.)My advice would be to seek a second opinion.

Comment:  I have taken my cat to Hope. Dr. Alex Klein is terrific. He took excellent care of her and communicated with me about everything that was happening. And, I was pleasantly surprised by the bill. It's a bit of a hike over there, but they will call a pet-friendly car service to get you back to Park Slope.
