Comment:  Joan Seergy, LCSW, Psychotherapist. She helped me so much after my first (extended Baby Blues? PPD? Who knows...) that I called her as soon as I started experiencing those telltale symptoms with my second. She was a huge help to me and I remain very grateful to her.

Comment:  HIGHLY recommend Joan Seergy: https://www.parkslopeparents.com/1336_Joan-Seergy-LCSW-Psychotherapist.html / 718 724-4521. I started seeing her after I had my first and again after my second. I was on Oxford Freedom when I saw her. She does phone sessions.

Comment:  I saw Joan for relief from severe stress at work and underlying depression and anxiety. She is warm, compassionate, and insightful. I have seen her for therapy for the last three years and will continue to do so. She has evening and Saturday hours, which I needed due to my FT work schedule. I highly recommend talk therapy for anyone who needs help managing stress or symptoms of mental health conditions. We all know the brain is a vital organ in our body, yet our mental health often gets neglected! Talking to a professional helps to alleviate symptoms and stress when you feel like you are not functioning optimally. It took me many calls to connect with Joan because I needed to find a therapist who was taking new patients, accepted my insurance, was located near my home and had evening/weekend hours. Now you can call 1-888-NYC-WELL to be connected to a mental health provider.

Comment:  PPDI (Review: Feb 2011) I started seeing Joan for post-partum depression issues (which then were re-classified as major depressive disorder and post traumatic stress disorder) upon a reccomendation from my obgyn. We connected right away upon the inital phone conversation. She is not the traditional therapist who gives you "your" time and day. Joan is very flexible with scheduling which is great having children to work around. She doesn't look down on your or feel that she is better that you because she can help you with your problem. Joan really wants to help, she wants you to "get better" she sometimes imparts her own personal experiences into the sessions or will sometimes it feels like you are talking to a friend instead of a trained professional. I am still currently seeing her and would wholeheartedly recommend women with, post-partum issues or marital issues to her. INSURANCE: Took oxford freedom when I had it in 2009 but not aetna, will give you a HICFA form to submit to insurance after completing a few sessions. Cost is $100 a session takes cash or check not sure about credit card.
