Comment:  The facility is brand new and beautiful. My labor room was the corner suite overlooking the East River. All recovery rooms are private so there is no extra charge. Because they are so new, I think they are still working out some process issues.I wanted a low intervention birth and I did not feel supported in this from the start. The first 4-5 staff (nurses, PAs, doctors) who I met with immediately asked me if I wanted an epidural. I had my birth preferences printed out but no one ever asked for my plan - just epidural or not. My water had broken before I arrived and when I finally got into a triage room 2 different people (I think one of them was in training) checked my cervix. This should not have happened - once your water breaks cervical checks should be minimal to prevent infection. I had continuous fetal monitoring and an IV placed pretty quickly. It became exhausting in between pretty intense contractions to keep saying No and referring them to my plan. This was disappointing.

Comment:  I delivered my first baby there in late September and had a great experience.Full disclosure: I'm a resident at Cornell in another specialty so I'm predisposed to like the place. The labor and delivery and post partum nurses were all very professional, kind, and knowledgeable. I delivered with an attending and a resident who were both fantastic. I needed close follow up which was easy to arrange--I felt very safe. It's also comfortable (all private rooms) and has great food. I would have stayed for a month.

Comment:  I just had a C-section there for my twins born on October 20th. My daughter and I stayed four days, and my son had to stay about two weeks in the NICU post birth. The experience was really wonderful - the hospital is beautiful and new, all rooms are private, and the nurses and other staff are amazing. I felt very reassured that the care my son was getting in the NICU was the very best. If I had to do it again, I would absolutely choose to do it at the same place, and would recommend it to anyone. Hope that helps, and good luck!

Comment:   I was meant to deliver there in August but delivered a few days early at the old hospital. That said, our baby was still in the NICU when the Cohen Hospital opened and was one of the very first patients. They were amazing and the facilities were beautiful. The care was exceptional.
