Dancewave’s popular Summer Dance Intensive for kids & teens takes place August 10-28. The Summer Dance Intensive program presents a unique opportunity for teens (10-18 years) to learn different dance disciplines in an exciting and challenging two-week program taught by renowned professional teachers. Each week ends with a Fridays at Five performances for students to showcase the week's teachings. Every Wednesday afternoon is the Demitasse Cafe to present modern dance professional choreogrpahers and have a Q&A session with students and artists. Checkout their next performance on June 7, 2009 at the BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center at 2pm & 7pm. Dancewave's Kids Company, Kids Company II, and Young Movers Ensemble showcase work by professional modern choreogrpahers. Faculty and classes for the Summer Dance Intensive have included dancers from today's prominent modern companies and professional schools; Faculty includes: Jennifer Archibald (Hip Hop), Lisa Bostwick (Ballet II), Mallory Butcher (Modern II, Street Jazz, Choreolab), Christine Elmo (Modern I), Ciani Espada (Salsa), Eduardo Gaytia Joyce King (Jazz, Theater Jazz), Maggie Lloyd (Ballet I), Jamal Jackson (African), and Catey Ott (Modern I). Adult Classes: Dance Classes: Dancewave offeres adults dance classes in Ballet, Pilates, Modern, and African. Convenient location close to Atlantic/Pacific Street subway station. Children's Classes: Dance, Gymnastic, Movement classes: Dancewave brings a variety of quality dance programs to the community and our public schools. Classes in all kinds of dance--ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop, creative modern, choreography, african, and more are offered for kids and teens. We have just opened our new home on Dean Street and Fourth Avenue now expanding with classes for adults and younger kids. Serious young dancers should consider joining one of our companies depending on age and experience: Young Movers Ensemble (ages 10-13), Kids Company II (ages 14-18), And Kids Company (ages 14-18). These companies train technically and have many opportunties to perform thoughout New York City. Professional modern choreographers are paired with each company to set pieces and mentor these young dancers. See them in action at our Spring Celebration on June 7, 2009 at the BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center in NYC at 2pm & 7pm. Spring Semester is in session and enrollement is still open for some classes and ends June 18. Summer Semester starts June 22-July 30.
