Comment:  I enjoyed both Stroller Strides and Run Club as a way to get back into shape after my two kids. When I started Run Club, my little one was 2 and I hadn't run since my early 20's. The slow and steady pace of getting back out their with great coaches and other moms like me got me to catch the running bug again. I went on to run several races after that including a marathon.I highly recommend it as a way to have some time for you, meet some new peeps and remind yourself of what your body can do! I mean, you gave birth to three kids--you can run for 35 minutes!

Comment:  A class I went to recently that I wish I'd started earlier (my daughter' snow 10 months) is Stroller Strides. It's a surprisingly good workout. You can also try the first class for free. The only downside (for me at least) is that they only meet at the 9th St. Entrance to the park, which is a bit far for me. I'd also recommend the baby and me yoga class at Bend & Bloom. Those are the two I have experience with. Oh, and I have a great trainer at the Y, Laurie Ortiz, who's been great (and is trained in postpartum fitness). Let me know if you have any questions.

Comment:  I third the recommendation for Brooklyn Fit4Mom's Run Club! I love run club - the fellow moms, the great coaching, a flexible program that accommodates many levels, and the fact that I actually run twice a week in a beautiful park which I would never ever ever do on my own with two toddlers at home tiring me out. It's a great program.

Comment:  I want to also give a plug! I'm so excited to start back up again with run club this spring after having my second baby. It was such a great experience after I had my first--I learned to love running and met some great friends in the process.

Comment:  I second this endorsement wholeheartedly. Run Club is the best thing that's happened to me.I was NEVER a runner and hadn't exercised formally in years. I couldn't believe the first time I made it around the loop of the park, and now my husband laughs when I say, "Oh, I JUST ran a loop." I was in awe of folks running the park, and now I'm one of them.Such a great group of women of all levels of fitness/speed. Run Club is an awesome escape and stress reliever.

Comment:  You may have seen other posts about Brooklyn Fit4Mom's Run Club. I wanted to give it a shout out because it has truly gotten my body and my head through this long, hard winter!I started off with their 5K group in the fall that ended with the most exhilarating run through Manhattan - The Dash to the Finish. I hadn't run with any consistency in about 15 years so it was quite something to do a 3 mile race after all that time. I then went on to run a 5 mile race, a 10 and now I'm training for my first half marathon in a couple of weeks! All to say, the group really helped me get out there, meet some new friends and feel like a real athlete after having two kids and a lot of couch time under my belt.Jen Clarke--our coach--is SO COMMITTED to us and our progress. She motivated us to get out there in 10 degree weather! And she'll work with you on your individual goals.

Comment:   I'm in no way affiliated, but have really enjoyed the Stroller Strides classes and wanted to encourage other moms to try it! I've been going since last spring and really love being able to exercise while being with my baby. Plus, I'll take any excuse to spend more time in Prospect Park, especially now that the weather is cooler and the fall colors are showing! I just went today, not sure if we would be too cold, and found that with the sun shining it actually was the perfect temperature for exercising. The classes are fun, yet challenging. It's on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 10:00. Meet by the 9th Street entrance to the park.

Subject:  Shout out for Body Back
Comment:  I just wanted to share info about an exercise program for moms that is starting up again in Park Slope. It's called Body Back, and basically it's a boot camp for moms that includes a nutrition component and lots of positive motivation and pep talks on family/life balance issues. I started taking the classes last Fall and have had an amazing experience - not only did I lose the baby weight that I had been carrying around for years, but I started eating healthier, had more energy and met some kick ass other moms in the neighborhood. I really can't speak highly enough about this program. If you are like me and cannot seem to get yourself to the gym, the classes are the perfect motivation to start working out again. I loved being able to stroll into the park and workout outside among the trees and fresh air, while doing exercises that were a lot more engaging than just running. I'm not affiliated with the group in any way other than to be a very happy neighborhood mom who wants to spread the word.

Comment:  I wanted to give all new moms a great way to get back into shape. Stroller Strides offers great classes with and without your baby. These classes really helped me get back into shape after my daughter was born. After a few months of this I joined their running group and now I can finally run around the park for fun and have also run in a few 5k races.August 2012

Comment:  I just completed the second round of a great class called Body Back -- it's sort of a "gentle" bootcamp, if there is such a thing, for moms. The leader, AnnaCatherine Rutledge, also teaches Stroller Strides, and she's fantastic -- somehow mellow but inspiring at the same time. Body Back is basically interval training interwoven with food challenges that get you thinking about portion size, what you eat, and so forth. I have much more energy, feel stronger and have lost a ton of weight -- definitely a bonus! Anyway, I have NO affiliation with Body Back, but I have really enjoyed it, think it's a bargain, and hope PSP members seeking out such a program are aware of it and will try it.August 2012

Comment:  I highly recommend the fitness classes given by Stroller Strides Brooklyn. My daughter is almost 11 months and I have been going to Stroller Strides classes a few times every week since moving to Brooklyn when she was 3 months old. The classes are a mixture of cardio and toning exercises using just your body or a resistance tube. The instructors are great and give you a good workout if that's what you're looking for, but also modifications if you wand something lower intensity. The babies stay in the stroller and are entertained by watching mom exercise, checking out the other babies, or just watching the park go by as we walk around to different locations. The class has been a lifesaver for me. I couldn't wait to get back to exercise after I had my baby and having a class where I could bring her with me allowed me to work out a lot more frequently than I could have otherwise. Beyond the exercise benefits, it's been great to meet other moms and get some fresh air in Prospect Park.
