    Description:

The Marks JCH of Bensonhurst is a neighborhood partner, serving Bensonhurst and the surrounding community for nearly 80 years.  One of our most important functions has and continues to be the provision of an enriching camp experience for kids from the surrounding areas.   By making use of the fabulous resources of New York City as well as extensive travel in the tri-state region, our camp program is able to provide children with an educational, recreational and social experience that will last a lifetime.

The teaching of Jewish values is an integral part of everything we do at the Marks JCH Summer Day Camp. Our programs help children to develop their identities by promoting a sense of cultural kinship within a natural Jewish environment.   We try at all times to foster individual growth while embracing Jewish family and community values.

Please contact us for more information or come for a tour of our recently renovated, state-of-the-art facilities.

Comment:  Age of Child: 3Likes: This was her first structured program after being home w a nanny for 3 years. It was an incredibly easy transition. She made friends, learned new things (inclusinf potty training!), swam every day and came home happy.Would you send your child(ren) again? YesDo you recommend? Highly recommendDo you have any other information to add? The preschool camp is onsite, with trips one day a week. They visited the zoo, a working farm, museums, and it was all great.

Comment:  Camp Marks JCH Bensonhurst Brooklyn / Staten Island Day Care or Sleep Away-- DCProgram: Age of Child: 5 Likes: Songs, dances, art, "gaga" (an Israeli ball game), relays, trips, swimming, Jewish educational programming - they even love the school bus rides! What would you change? Better lunches / more variety of lunches. Would you send your child(ren) again? Yes Do you recommend? Highly recommend Do you have any other information to add? [Please note - the survey would only allow one answer for my child's age, but both my kids were campers this summer, at ages, 5 and 7, and both had a fantastic time.] My kids did not like their camp last year and they were very skeptical of going to another camp. They LOVE it and are already talking about next year and sad that this year is coming to an end. I can't believe it!!!! We're hooked. The campers start their day at the J in Bensonhurst (the school bus picked them up right by my apartment and brought them there), where they do some songs and dances. Three days a week they then head out to the Henry Kaufman Campgrounds on Staten Island, one day a week they have a trip, and one day a week they stay in Brooklyn. All three options are really great for the kids, and I think it's worth noting that the camp is very flexible and responsive to the weather etc. If it's raining or dangerously hot, they will arrange a field trip instead of a campgrounds day (or stay at the J) - even making the decision that very morning. Also good to know - the ratios are really fantastic. Each camp group (of about 10-12 campers) has a head counselor, assistant counselor, and counselor in training - and then there are more counselors overseeing larger categories of the groups, etc.Review from 2012 Summer Camp Experience
