Comment:  I wanted to post a review for a wonderful new resource for kids in the neighborhood. http://www.brooklyncraftworkshop.com/My 5 year old twins did a mini-Workshop at the Brooklyn Craft Workshop and had a great experience. The two teachers, Ilana and Rachel, (both certified elementary school teachers) are so lovely. The kids made drawings which the teachers patiently helped them to embroider onto burlap. They used the burlap piece as part of a larger pillow design. My kids were thrilled with their homemade pillows, which were adorable. It was exactly the kind of thing that I feel as a parent I wish I had more time to do at home with my kids, because the joy and pride they feel in creating something homemade is so powerful. The space is also beautiful and welcoming, the class sits around a kitchen table in a little country farm house...in Gowanus! Among the sea of choices in the neighborhood, I think Brooklyn Craft Workshop is a special place.June 2012

Comment:  My daughter and three of her friends did a fantastic craft workshop with Brooklyn Craft Workshop a few weeks ago. It's run by two elementary school teachers, Ilana Friedman and Rachel Schwartzman. They only work with small groups, which is great, because kids get lots of attention. Their art projects include sewing, book art, printing, paper-making and beadwork. My daughter and her friends walked out with each of their own finished projects in two days. These guys are my neighbors, which is why I gave them a try. But I have to say I sat in on one of the workshops, and it was hands-on, fun and engaging. You know Ilana loves what she does because the girls kept saying "Ilana smiles so much" after each workshop and "They're so nice." That's so great to hear when I usually get "It's OK" when I ask about an after-school or summer program.Love these guys! And they have summer workshops too!
